Weird movies, thy name is Alejandro Jodorowsky...

I’m sorry but do you actually think this would have been any good? I don’t think there was the slightest chance: Jodorowsky had nothing but contempt for the book; he had demonstrated no mastery of visual effects or narrative cohesion whatsoever; all of those people working together would have been an epic mess on the scale of what happened to Star Trek The Motion Picture before the studio desperately hired Trumbull and Dykstra to pull 24-hours-a-day months’s long marathons to complete the vfx sequences that the previous people had dithered with but never completed (and that was Robert Wise, who was at least capable of thinking in terms of coherent movie sequences). It would have been like Bakshi’s Lord of the Rings except without the meager coherence and drive that movie had.

I think it undoubtedly would have been... memorable. Maybe not in a good way! Like his Holy Mountain, an incredibly divisive film. But maybe I shouldn't be trusted. I watched the extended director's cut of ST:TMP and thought there were some interesting additions that made up for it being even more interminable than the original...

Yeah? You want to see The Harkonnens taking a shit on Duke Leto? Because of you’ve seen The Holy Mountain you know Jodorowsky will make you watch.

Lynch was a much better director and auteur, and even his deeply flawed adaptation is better than anything Jodorowski ever made. I don’t really see a world where this gets made on the scale suggested here, and I certainly don’t see a world where it is actually good.

I’m kinda glad no one actually made this. I don’t think a ten hour long film (forgot the intended length) and all sorts of bizarre psychedellic imagery that was far fetched even for dune and strayed by taking a u-turn and rowboating itself across siberian desert an then bobsledding into the sahara is a good idea.

Yes, what I wrote above is incredibly problematic grammatically.

Iʻm so glad someone finally acknowledged this epic of forgotten film lore, and that the someone was you! I still wake up some nights, soaked in sweat, yearning to witness this bit of movie magic in a darkened theater somewhere ... someone should make that happen.

It makes me lol in the documentary when Jodorowsky say he wanted to rape the novel.

Guessing that train would have wrecked at some stage, even if it somehow got on screen.

Also, didn’t know Dali did any acting. Or maybe he didn’t. Seems like a lot of money for questionable benefit.
